Couples Therapy

Do you feel like you and your partner speak different languages?

Maybe you spend all your time together arguing or perhaps you feel lonely sitting next to one another on the couch. You may feel like talking to each other is like talking to a wall, or you simply avoid each other all together. Perhaps you’re feeling stuck and uncertain of your future as a couple.

Whatever it is that you’re experiencing, you’re beginning to notice the impact of this in every facet of your life, feeling:

  • Disconnected; you can’t make even the simplest decisions together.

  • Anxious or depressed; you wonder if this is really all there is to being married? Is this really as good as it gets?

  • Exhausted; you keep having the same arguments over and over.

  • Lonely; you feel like you don’t know the person you are in a relationship with anymore.

  • Tired of keeping score.

Couples therapy can help.

It may feel impossible now, but you can break the cycle. You can rekindle your connection with your partner. You can bring the excitement back.

Couples therapy helps you:

  • Create a safe space to explore your feelings, giving yourself permission to get messy without shame.

  • Examine learned beliefs and roles you have adopted from your family and the world around you.

Learn tools to help you better communicate, so you and your partner can get back on the same team.
I’ll help through this process, tailoring each step to your unique needs and circumstances. My approach to couples therapy comes from a place of trust: I believe by learning to truly hear and see one another, a new, stronger partnership can be built.

You don’t have to live life feeling exhausted and alone in your relationship. I can help you get there.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What are couples therapy sessions like?

A: We will meet weekly for 50 minute video sessions.  Our sessions will give us the opportunity to slow down and take a closer look at how and why you have come to hold certain beliefs around what’s happened, or how you are feeling. Every once in a while you might get to see a curious cat, but only if he is feeling camera ready.

Q: Will you meet with us individually?

A: While most couples sessions will be conducted with both partners present, you can expect occasional individual sessions throughout the process.

Q: How long do we need to be in therapy?

A: I believe you are the expert of your own life and know what’s best for you. I am just here to help guide you to find it. The short answer is every couple is different and their time in therapy differs for a variety of reasons.

Q: How do I know if couples therapy will work for us?

A: While there are no guarantees, we will explore your circumstances intentionally and at a pace you are comfortable with. We will examine your feelings and experiences, working collaboratively to develop the tools you need to be present and navigate your way through this tremendous transformation.

Q: Should we see a therapist?

Choosing to see a therapist is a personal decision, but for me, I believe we could all use a person in our corner to help us detangle the emotional knots of relationships.

Q: What does a therapist do for us?

A: It isn’t what I do for you as much as what we will do together. I will guide you and bring an objective perspective, allowing you to feel safe and empowered to explore the things in your life that feel misaligned with what you want.

Q: What is Telehealth?

A: Telehealth is another word for remote or virtual sessions.  I see all my clients remotely. If you would prefer to meet over the phone, that is also possible.

Q: Where is your office located?

A: Currently, I see all my clients remotely through encrypted video chat. I serve the Greater Bay Area and California.  I am based out of Marin.

Q: Do you take our insurance?

A: At this time, I do not take insurance.  I can provide you with a superbill for you to submit to your insurance provider.

Q: How do we get started?

A: Great question!  First, click the button below “Schedule a free consultation” to book our initial call.  During our initial 15 minute call, we’ll have a short conversation about what you are looking for, answer any additional questions you might have, and get an opportunity to see if we’re a good fit.

You don’t have to face the journey alone. I can be your guide, honoring and supporting you in this chapter of your life.
